Bellingham Herald and their non- supportive ways
I am a recently published featured author in the book Bouncing Back - Thriving in Changing Times with co-authors Dr. Wayne Dyer, Brian Tracy and John Assaraf and so many more incredible people. The book is a compilation of incredible stories about people moving from from trying and terrible times to thriving in their lives.
These are the stories that I wanted to share with my local audience through one of the main stream venues in the area, the Well established Bellingham Herald. These troublesome times have been tough on so many, I thought that by sharing this great book, it would bring some inspiration to us all. So I decided to promote it by writing a press release.
You see, I am not just a new author but a local business person who works in Bellingham as a Life and Success Coach supporting Women in Business.
With that in mind, I submitted my press release to executive director, who in turn stated, quote: "Thanks for the information. If it was a book by a major imprint I was going to write about it, but in researching Wake Up, it's pretty akin to self-publishing... Sorry." And also continued to say this, after she stated to be aware of instant credibility..she is making statements against the publishing company and to be aware of such.
"It's not a matter of "liking" the publishing company, it's a matter of it not being in the mainstream of book publishing. We don't publicize self-published books either."
So with that, if you are NOT part of the massive publishing companies, if you are self published, if you are a smaller publishing company, LOCAL or not, she will not support you. Julie made it about the publishing company and has NO idea what the book is about and completely blew off the fact that this was to support a local business and author.
So much for the Executive Editor of the Bellingham Herald supporting local business.
With that, think of this. Would the likes of Dr. Wayne Dyer, Brian Assaraf and Brian Tracy and all these other highly successful people attach their name to something that didn't have credibility?
I think not.
Here is to supporting local talent and businesses!!!
